Until 1861 there existed in British India two parallel sys-tems of judicial institutions of entirely dissimilar origin , one in the presidency towns where Crown Courts had been established by Royal Charters and Acts of Parlia-ment , the other in.the moffussils where courts were organised by the Company by virtue of the powers de-rived from the native governments .
न्यायालयों की दो समानांतर प्रणालियां 1861 तक ब्रिटिश भारत में न्यायिक संस्थाओं की दो पूर्णतया असमान मूल की समानांतर प्रणालियां विद्यमान थीं- एक प्रेसिडेंसी नगरों में जिनमें रॉयल चार्टरों और संसद के अधिनियमों से क्राउन न्यायालय स्थापित किए गए थे और दूसरी मुफस्सिल में जहां कंपनी ने देशी सरकारों से प्राप्त शक्तियों का प्रयोग करते हुए न्यायालय स्थापित किए थे .
